Privacy & Data
TidyDraft helps you correct supported numbering and structural issues in your documents. We understand that legal documents can contain confidential and personal information. This page explains what TidyDraft accesses, how that information is processed and the choices available to you.
1. Who we are
TidyDraft is a Google Docs add-on in private beta, created by Dafe O. Akpobome, based in Lagos, Nigeria. For privacy questions, contact help@trytidydraft.com. This policy describes the add-on. Website forms, support correspondence and hosting data are described separately where relevant.
2. Information TidyDraft accesses
When you run TidyDraft, the add-on accesses information needed to analyse and correct document structure. This may include document text, paragraphs, numbering, lists, formatting, structural properties and document identifiers.
TidyDraft operates through Google Docs and Google Apps Script. It requests two Google permissions: access to view and edit Google Docs, and permission to display its interface within Google Docs. It requests no Google Drive permission. The current Google Docs authorisation is broader than permission to access only one active document, although ordinary use begins with the document selected by the user.
The add-on does not require a separate TidyDraft account.
If you request beta access or contact support, we may also receive the information you provide, including your name, email address and message.
3. How document content is processed
TidyDraft uses rule-based processing to identify and correct supported numbering and structural issues.
Supported corrections are made within Google Docs. Where a proposed correction requires your decision, TidyDraft may present it for review.
The add-on is designed to preserve the underlying legal wording rather than rewrite contract terms.
Some changes may be unsupported or ambiguous, and partial changes may remain if processing fails.
You should review corrected documents and affected cross-references before relying on them.
TidyDraft does not ordinarily create a separate permanent backup of your agreement during normal use. Google Docs version history may help you recover an earlier version.
4. Diagnostic information
TidyDraft uses technical diagnostics to understand whether processing succeeds, fails or requires review.
Ordinary diagnostics may include Run IDs, status information, processing stages, counts and technical errors.
In exceptional cases, diagnostics may include document-derived fingerprints or identifiers.
Separate support or developer diagnostic functions may be capable of recording more detailed document information, including text.
The audited beta includes a hardened build intended to restrict access to those diagnostic utilities through the add-on interface.
Technical diagnostics use Google’s Apps Script logging facilities.
We do not ordinarily need a copy of your agreement to begin investigating a support request.
If you report an issue, please provide the Run ID if available, the approximate time and a description of what happened. Do not send confidential document contents in your initial support message.
5. AI and model training
The current audited TidyDraft beta uses rule-based processing rather than generative AI.
The document-formatting workflow does not integrate an external generative AI service or an AI model-training system.
TidyDraft does not require you to upload your agreement to a separate TidyDraft website to run the add-on.
Our handling of Google Workspace information must comply with applicable Google API user-data requirements, including the relevant Limited Use requirements.
6. Information storage and retention
TidyDraft does not ordinarily create a separate permanent copy of your agreement as part of its normal correction workflow.
However, the add-on may temporarily retain information required for review and correction features.
The audited implementation can use Google’s Apps Script user cache to hold relevant paragraph text, document identifiers and proposed corrections. It requests an expiration of approximately one hour, although Google may remove entries earlier.
A separate review-state token may remain in user properties until replaced or cleared through the relevant workflow, for example when TidyDraft is run again on the same document. It does not automatically expire with the cache.
Technical logs, beta registration details and support correspondence may have different retention periods.
7. Service providers and Google
TidyDraft uses Google Docs and Google Apps Script for its document-processing functions.
Our private beta registration uses Google Forms and associated Google services.
Our domain and support email are managed through Hostinger.
The website is hosted by Vercel.
These services may process information in different jurisdictions, including outside Nigeria.
Document processing through the add-on does not require users to upload agreements to a separate TidyDraft website.
8. Your choices and control
You decide when to use TidyDraft and whether to approve corrections presented for review.
You may stop using the add-on and revoke its Google account permissions through the applicable Google account controls.
For privacy enquiries or requests to access, correct or delete personal information associated with TidyDraft, contact help@trytidydraft.com.
We may request reasonable information to verify that a request comes from the relevant person before disclosing or deleting personal information.
Requests will be handled in accordance with applicable data-protection law.
Where applicable, you may raise a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9. Security
We recognise that legal documents may contain personal, commercially sensitive or confidential information.
TidyDraft uses Google Docs and Google Apps Script services for core document processing.
We aim to restrict access to personal information to individuals who need it to operate, maintain or support the service.
During private beta testing, we recommend retaining appropriate document copies and avoiding unnecessary disclosure of confidential content through support email.
No software can guarantee that errors or security incidents will never occur.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy takes effect on 18 October 2026.
We may update it as TidyDraft develops.
Where a change materially affects how personal information is handled, we will update the policy on the website and notify affected beta testers by email where required.
The effective date will be updated when revised terms take effect.
